The hopper holds up to 200 pounds of material and contains two independent augers. You control the material spread using the separate left and right gate controls. Material flows through the discharge holes located behind the wheels.

The Chapin Professional Salt Drop Spreader features a unique slit axle design. This design allows the chain-driven agitators to operate independently of one another. Chapin equipped this spreader with two 12-inch wide pneumatic tires. They also placed a third idler wheel in the middle of the backside of the spreader.
